Director of Operations
HerStry is seeking a Director of Operations.
The Director of Operations is a part time contract job capped at 25 hours per month with the option for additional hours if funds allow.
The Director of Operations Is Responsible For:
Maintaining communication between HerStry and our member organization, the Babes Who Write. Those responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sending Member emails (including monthly member digest)
Updating Member profiles
Membership drives (Helping hit yearly membership goals)
Regularly checking and maintaining HerStry’s general email inbox, making sure communications are not missed.
Working closely with HerStry Editor-in-Chief/Founder to create a marketing plan for HerStry and execute marketing materials
Maintaining HerStry’s website. Including, but not limited to:
Uploading new events and classes
Editing contest pages
Monitoring comments
General maintenance and upkeep.
Qualifications
The best candidate will be someone willing to wear many hats. HerStry is a small organization, and this is the first time we’ve sought a Director of Operations. Candidate should be flexible and willing to work with us as we transition to a larger team.
Other Qualifications
Degree in English, journalism, marketing, communication or similar experience
Well versed in Squarespace
Previous work with membership groups
Well versed in SEO and website copy
Ability to work independently & take the lead on projects without having to explicitly be told or managed
A passion for women, nonbinary folks, and being part of the revolution

Critique Group Leader
HerStry is seeking a Critique Group Leader to take over a number of classes from May 2026 - December 2026 with the option to renew their contract for 2027.
HerStry’s Critique Groups are workshop style classes held on Zoom. The classes this position would fill are held on Monday evenings at 7PM CT. Instructor’s are responsible for giving participants editorial feedback, timely communication, and teaching the fundamentals of writing.
This is a paid contract position capped at 15 hours per month.

Volunteer Reader
HerStry is seeking volunteer readers for our 2026 publication season. Readers are responsible for reading an average of 30 stories per month (sometimes more if the monthly theme is popular) and rating the work based on HerStry's mission to amplify women and nonbinary voices, plus their own personal taste. HerStry is seeking volunteer readers in order to diversify our website. We're looking for readers who have a strong sense of self and a passion for uplifting underrepresented voices in literature.
