The Art of the Personal Essay

What makes a gripping personal essay?

A hint, you don’t need to have lived a dramatic or wild life to have something to write about. A good personal essay is all about telling a good story, no matter what the subject matter.

In this one hour workshop Julia Nusbaum, Editor in Chief of HerStry, will take participants through exactly what it takes to write an essay that lit magazines want to publish. Participants will also come away with 2-3 fleshed out ideas they can turn into essays.
